based on the devotion to Military Service of a certain number of consecutive years of a man's life when he reaches manhood. All that our achame contemplates is 11 days per annum for trained man. Australia and New Zealand have adopted conscription being alive to the vital necessity of defence. The later alse compels all boys between 12 and 18 to join a Cadet Corps, a systom which might be adopted here with some modification, but which we need not discuss at present.
I feel confiéent in conclusion that apart from the question of Defence, the discipline and healthy exercise afforded during the Traingngs, and the realization of responsibility which they will bring to the minds of all will greatly benefit the British citizens of this Colony.
